Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Machinist/Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Trans-United Consultants Ltd. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in machine and fabrication shop environments, with a focus on quality control and assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the training of new and existing employees on the proper usage of measuring equipment and quality policies and procedures.
  • Inspect all machined and fabricated jobs to ensure compliance with drawing, process, and customer specifications.
  • Monitor in-process jobs throughout the shop to prevent non-conformance issues.
  • Inspect items received from a sub-contracted process prior to release to customer or next process in order to ensure compliance with drawing, process, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documents such as certificates of compliance or dimensional reports as per customer requirements.
  • Maintain a calibration system for all company-owned and employee-owned measuring instruments.
  • Assist and troubleshoot employee production issues relating to drawing and process interpretation and proper measurement techniques.
  • Promote high expectations, efficiency, and safety in the work environment.
  • Operate measuring equipment according to established procedures.
  • Identify irregularities in parts and non-conformance to quality standards.
  • Prepare and manage non-conformance reports as per written quality policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of non-conformance issues.
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of ISO 9001 policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with customers and vendors regarding quality issues.
  • Communicate critical information to coworkers and report to management as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years' work experience in a machine and fabrication shop environment or engineering department of a manufacturer with heavy machining capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of machinery and equipment, material tolerances, and quality control principles.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
