Job Summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Preschool Instructor to join our team. As a Preschool Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing high-quality preschool programs for children aged 3-5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and educational preschool programs that meet the needs of the community.
  • Lead a team of preschool assistants and provide guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
  • Plan and deliver programs that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in preschool-aged children.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect, empathy, and positive behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and supervisors to ensure the success of the preschool program.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to preschool education.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Respectful of diverse opinions and perspectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town.

  • Rate of Pay: $24.97 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: Up to 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday, various shifts.
