Position: Railway Vehicle Mechanic

Overview:

As a Railway Vehicle Mechanic at RailWorks Corporation, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of railway vehicles and associated equipment. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostics and repair operations on railway vehicles and machinery;
  • Perform fluid changes and minor welding tasks as needed;
  • Execute preventive maintenance inspections and generate detailed inspection reports;
  • Address electrical malfunctions and repair hydraulic components;
  • Maintain and repair gas and diesel engines;
  • Assist in the procurement of spare parts;
  • Ensure cleanliness and operational readiness of equipment;
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines;
  • Verify that operators complete daily visual inspections and associated reports.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a DEP in electromechanics or a related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of railway systems or equivalent;
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics;
  • Strong manual dexterity and welding skills;
  • Possession of a comprehensive toolset for maintenance tasks;
  • A valid driver's license of the appropriate class;
  • Completion of railway safety training or equivalent certifications;
  • No adverse entries in the occupational health and safety record;
  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations.

  • Responsible for the upkeep of service vehicles and tools;
  • Commit to health and safety objectives.

Reporting Requirements:

  • Complete daily inspection documentation prior to the start of shifts.
