POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves providing technical expertise, mentorship, and training to various operational staff, including Set-up Mechanics and Line Technicians. Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of manufacturing and plant support equipment, alongside the establishment and completion of preventive maintenance tasks.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leadership

  • Assess training needs and assist in developing training programs for Maintenance Technicians and Operators.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Supervisor to allocate technical resources and set priorities based on operational requirements.
  • Undertake additional duties as necessary.

2. Machinery / Repair / Equipment Maintenance

  • Conduct repairs on various production and packaging equipment.
  • Possess a solid understanding of compressors, boilers, and fire suppression systems.
  • Operate lathes, drill presses, and other machinery.
  • Engage with all packaging and processing equipment on-site.
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate with external contractors for equipment component purchases.

3. Equipment Set-up and Operability

  • Assist with equipment setups and changeovers for various production processes.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose issues with drive mechanisms and perform general electrical troubleshooting.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Enhance the Site PM/CMMS program.
  • Propose design upgrades to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in the installation and validation of new equipment.

5. Health, Safety and Quality

  • Identify and address safety concerns proactively.
  • Adhere to corporate safety and quality guidelines.
  • Engage in risk assessments and safety reviews.

6. Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Support the implementation of the 5S Program.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Level: High school diploma required; post-secondary education or trade certification is advantageous.

Minimum Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years in a similar role.

Required Language Proficiency: Proficient in English.

Licenses or Certifications: Millwright or electrician certification is preferred.
