Job Title: Residential Support Worker

At The Salvation Army, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to residents, ensuring the smooth functioning of Kate Booth House.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in shift changeovers and ensure a seamless transition of care.
  • Respond to crisis calls and provide support to residents in need.
  • Provide house orientation to new residents and ensure they feel welcome and supported.
  • Maintain accurate records of shift information and complete necessary forms and reports.
  • Collaborate with Caseworkers to ensure the smooth functioning of Kate Booth House.
  • Assist with food preparation and meal planning.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to residents in crisis.
  • Mediate conflicts and ensure a safe and respectful environment for all residents.
  • Perform security checks at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Stay up-to-date with KBH policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy living environment.
Qualifications and Education:
  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in social services or a related field.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR level C and FOODSAFE Level 1 certificates.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with victims of domestic violence.
  • Experience working in a frontline social service setting.
  • Experience assisting professionals in intervening safely with domestic violence.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the situation of women who have experienced violence in their intimate relationships and their children.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and agencies.
  • Comfortable using computers and database programs.
  • Valid BC driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Criminal Record Check for working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Nonviolent conflict intervention training.
  • Completion of online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
Preferred Skills and Capabilities:
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and agencies.
  • Good conflict resolution skills.
