Department: Community Services
Position Type: Temporary Part Time

Compensation: $25.50 per hour

OBJECTIVE:

As an integral member of the Community Services Department, this role involves crafting lesson plans, delivering high-quality instruction, conducting evaluations, and managing administrative responsibilities for assigned fitness programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exemplify professionalism while representing the City of Belleville by adhering to all Staff Policies and Procedures established by the Department.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of participants by complying with all regulations set forth by the Department and external organizations.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of City Programs and demonstrate strong public relations capabilities.
  • Provide effective instruction and leadership for designated fitness programs.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations and provide feedback regarding programs to the Recreation Programmer.
  • Complete attendance records and any necessary documentation to efficiently manage the program in accordance with Department Procedures.
  • Take responsibility for assessing and responding to emergency situations, including completing required reports.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to participants, managing conflicts through effective problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ensure all program areas are adequately equipped with necessary materials, documentation, and supplies.
  • Maintain all required certifications in good standing.
  • Participate in all scheduled training sessions and staff meetings.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college or university education preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Certification from a recognized agency relevant to the discipline being taught (e.g., Group Fitness, TRX, Kettlebell).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High Five - Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior instructional experience in the relevant discipline.
