Your Role:

As a Senior Validation Engineer at ecobee, you will play a crucial role in transforming innovative concepts into market-ready products. Your expertise will ensure that every product meets our high standards for quality and reliability. Collaborating with the Hardware Engineering team, you will help maintain our reputation for delivering robust and dependable products that prioritize customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engineering design verification test plans.
  • Execute reliability test plans to enhance warranty and service life confidence.
  • Conduct Highly Accelerated Life Tests (HALT) and Accelerated Life Tests (ALT) to identify vulnerabilities and improve designs.
  • Assess engineering test and verification activities against real-world applications.
  • Design and construct test instrumentation systems to standardize and automate experiments.
  • Create and refine automated verification fixtures to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Utilize Python scripts for data analysis and test automation.
  • Conduct Gage repeatability and reproducibility analyses, as well as yield reports.
  • Assist in diagnosing factory issues using your manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Perform assessments and trade-offs of test coverage for production test suites.
  • Document and report on completed tests and analyses.
  • Identify component alternatives and develop validation plans for substitutions.
  • Conduct environmental and compliance testing for new and existing products.
  • Research and execute relevant specifications for product development.
  • Prototype new circuits prior to production integration.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance all test and verification activities.
  • Provide recommendations on design integrity and readiness for mass production.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware product development, particularly in consumer electronics.
  • Experience with full product development cycles and high-volume production.
  • Proficient in hardware design, validation, and testing execution.
  • Strong background in schematic design and PCB review.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Understanding of testing principles and their impact on results.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in PCB layout and optimization.
  • Knowledge of low power, IoT sensor design.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and C++ development.
