Job Description


As the senior manager of service delivery and technical leadership, you will build, lead, and inspire a cross-functional team to deliver product features and services while developing a team culture of ownership that reinforces the core values of the Royal Bank of Canada. You will digitize critical business processes and maintain existing systems and infrastructure. You will help prioritize work for your team, making difficult tradeoffs on design based on business constraints while ensuring on-time deliverables and high-quality software. You will provide technical guidance and mentor developers to help them reach their potential and ship a world-class product.

What is the opportunity?

  • Leveraging tools and technologies to roll out business frameworks, including policies, standards, procedures, processes, and metrics.
  • Giving hands-on support and execution of business practices on behalf of the organization, coordinate the work and deliverables.
  • Developing and maintaining an inventory of business assets, including authoritative systems, data domains, data owners, and the enterprise business governance platform.
  • Facilitating and conducting workshops with business partners to identify the assets, collect, and curate the metadata.
  • Manage a team of senior developers and help develop their careers with stretch responsibilities and excellent feedback.
  • Hands-on experience with creating technical artifacts.
  • Supporting SAAS vendor projects and POC on new projects.
  • Drive the planning, execution, and delivery of various initiatives.
  • Implement highly available, scalable, secure architecture as per the Royal Bank of Canada Enterprise standard.
  • Provide solutions to technical roadblocks.
  • Be actively involved in strategic direction and product decision.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and reporting.
  • You are accountable for your team's successful, timely delivery of high-quality modern web applications.


What you need?

  • Experience with business governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Hands-on experience in any one of the business governance tools, preferably Collibra.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Software Development and Architecture.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them to technical requirements.
  • University degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Senior-level experience designing, developing, and delivering complex technical software solutions (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Experience leading systems design of service-based architectures and microservices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to influence the organization effectively.
  • Strong understanding of strategic and business planning processes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Scrum and Agile teams.
  • Experience in building end-to-end data CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven hands-on experience in containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, etc.
