At Arup, we are driven by a shared purpose and a commitment to collaboration that has distinguished us for over 75 years. We foster an environment where individuality flourishes, and our collective strength lies in the respect and connection we maintain among our diverse experiences and perspectives. Joining us means engaging in meaningful work that contributes positively to society, your career, and the communities we serve.
We are seeking a skilled Consultant to become part of our expanding Advisory Services team, recognized for its role in advising and executing some of the most groundbreaking transport infrastructure initiatives across North America. We are eager to connect with professionals from Management Consulting, Engineering, Planning, Economics, or related technical fields who possess a wide-ranging skill set and a desire to advance their careers in the Transport and Infrastructure domains.
Your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage client projects, offering strategic, economic, technical, and commercial insights related to the planning, development, financing, and procurement of transport and significant public infrastructure initiatives. You will collaborate with both public entities and private stakeholders to guide projects from conception through to construction commencement. Your projects may encompass due diligence, market evaluations, business case development, and feasibility studies. A key aspect of your role will be to identify critical risks and opportunities for project sponsors, presenting these insights in a manner that is easily comprehensible and impactful for their business strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead or assist in the creation of business cases, market evaluations, or feasibility studies for transport and major public infrastructure projects.
• Formulate strategies, recommend optimal project delivery methods, and design procurement processes to ensure successful project execution from initial planning through to financial closure, construction, and operational phases.
• Conduct and refine economic impact assessments, cost-benefit analyses, financial forecasts, value-for-money evaluations, and financial models for infrastructure financing transactions, including risk identification and assessment.
• Facilitate client and stakeholder engagement through meetings, presentations, and workshops, ensuring proactive communication throughout.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, leveraging multi-disciplinary expertise within the firm to deliver high-quality advice to our clients.
• Manage multiple client projects simultaneously by utilizing both internal and external resources across various disciplines.
• Mentor and develop junior team members to enhance their analytical and consulting capabilities.
• Support pre-positioning efforts for future opportunities and assist in proposal development.
• Cultivate and maintain robust internal and external networks, including client relationships.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, economics, or commerce; a master's degree in business administration, project management, or finance is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the development of transportation or infrastructure projects, particularly in the rail/transit, highway, or aviation sectors.
• Proven ability to coordinate across diverse teams and disciplines.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills for conducting cost-benefit analyses, economic impact assessments, and financial modeling.
• Familiarity with the commercial and procurement aspects of public-private partnerships and project financing.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively through reports, correspondence, and presentations in English; proficiency in French is an asset.
• A commitment to professional development and mentorship of colleagues.
• A strong passion for sustainable development and a commitment to shaping a better world in alignment with Arup's values.
• Willingness to work in one of our Canadian offices and the capacity to travel as required to meet client needs.
