Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to enhance our Montreal Claims Team. The primary responsibility of the Senior Claims Specialist is to facilitate effective loss management within the established operational framework of the claims team, ensuring the swift and fair resolution of client claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Eastern Claims Leader.
- Leverage substantial experience in client claims advocacy, insurer claim examination, or third-party claim adjusting.
- Focus on driving initiatives to manage complex claims across various insurance lines.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of insurance markets and their claim resolution processes.
- Take ownership of active claim management, including coverage reviews, problem-solving, and settlement strategies for clients.
- Analyze loss details to identify applicable policies and coverage.
- Lead the claims process for clients by participating in claims strategy discussions to ensure progress and fair resolution.
- Collaborate closely with internal Client Executives and Claims Advocacy colleagues to enhance the claims experience for clients.
- Emphasize client focus and deliver value-added claims services.
- Work with internal and external leadership groups to promote understanding of risk mitigation through optimal claims closure.
- Support Broking teams by contributing to the development of client-specific claim protocols.
- Monitor insurer responses to reported claims and engage with insurers and their advisors to facilitate smooth and timely claims resolution.
- Collaborate with other claims team members to establish best practices in claim management.
- Draft communications to clients and/or insurers and review documents prepared by clients to support the claims process.
- Provide technical claim assistance, leadership, and mentoring to colleagues.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a commercial claims environment, whether at the adjustor, carrier, legal, or brokerage level.
- Relevant qualifications such as CIP, CAIB, CRM, or LL.B are advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of pertinent insurance law and claim litigation procedures.
- Strong relationships with carriers and detailed knowledge of insurance market claim procedures.
- Possession of a Claim Adjusting license (AMF).
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to formulate effective claim strategies.
- Understanding of risk and mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
