Health Care Assistant

The Red Deer ICU is a dynamic and fast-paced unit providing care to critically ill medical and surgical patients from the Central Zone. We are seeking healthcare professionals to join our multidisciplinary team.
Description:As a Health Care Aide, you will work collaboratively with our team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients who require short-term assistance or ongoing care. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers to assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. You will also assist nurses with routine care and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing.
Required Qualifications:- Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
- Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider BCLS-HCP is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, to provide quality care to patients, and to report observations.
- Experience in acute care within the last three years is essential.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education is required.
- Self-directed individual with a positive attitude, and demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, evidenced by performance appraisals and reference checks.
Immediate past experience on medical units is preferred.
