The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is dedicated to enhancing the integration of patient-focused clinical and preventive health services throughout Manitoba. The organization also provides province-wide health services and facilitates centralized administrative and business functions for health organizations in Manitoba.
The selected candidate may qualify for an annual full-time incentive of up to $2,000 each year as per the current MNU collective agreement.
Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Patient Care Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is tasked with delivering professional nursing services to assigned patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health conditions. Responsibilities encompass independent nursing services, administering prescribed medical treatments, collaborating with the healthcare team, and engaging in the coordination of patient care and discharge processes. The LPN is expected to uphold the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the organization.
Experience- Recent relevant experience is preferred.
- Emergency nursing experience is highly desirable.
- A satisfactory employment record is required.
**Emergency Nursing Orientation is a full-time program. Participants are required to engage on a full-time basis during Levels 1, 2, and 3 training periods. **
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Education program is mandatory.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- Successful completion of WRHA Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO) training Level 1 within two months of hire, with Levels 2 and 3 completed within twelve months, and all other required training within twenty-four months.
- Certification in IV Therapy; IV Medication Administration is required.
- Must maintain and provide proof of active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training at the Healthcare Provider level is required.
- In accordance with WRHA policy.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training is an asset.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training is an asset.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is an asset.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) is an asset.
- Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care (EPICC) Foundations Course is an asset.
- Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care (EPICC) Trauma Course is an asset.
- Knowledge of:
- Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses as set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
- Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses as established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
- Scope of practice as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
- Policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines relevant to the organization.
- Nursing care knowledge pertinent to the clinical area.
- Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions).
- Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members.
- Principles of delegation.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Preference will be given to applicants proficient in an Indigenous language and/or knowledgeable about Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
- Need to insert French language statement.
