Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Biochemist to join our team at the Diagnostic Scientific Centre. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in mass spectrometry and laboratory medicine, with a focus on endocrinology and toxicology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the operation of ten mass spectrometers, working closely with laboratory scientists to troubleshoot and develop new methods.
  • Represent the Diagnostic Scientific Centre on provincial initiatives and projects, including instrument implementations, laboratory information systems, and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the review and approval of clinical referred-out testing for Southern Alberta.
  • Liaise with clinical users to address medical and operational issues, including participation in the on-call service and evaluation of instrumentation and software.
  • Work collaboratively with toxicologists and other stakeholders to support safety, test utilization, and quality assurance programs.
  • Provide input on resource planning and strategic initiatives for laboratory medicine.
  • Teach, mentor, and supervise laboratory medicine learners.
Requirements
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related disciplines.
  • Current certification by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge in mass spectrometry.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
