About the Role:
The Palliser School Division is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to fill the position of Making Connections Worker. This role is a critical part of our team, working closely with schools and families to provide support and resources for students and families facing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement evidence-based mental health programs and early intervention strategies within the classroom setting.
- Collaborate with schools to facilitate the successful integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Empower children, youth, and families by fostering the development of skills and knowledge necessary to cultivate positive relationships within the school, home, and community environments.
- Facilitate access to community resources for families by providing referrals, scheduling meetings, and coordinating transportation as needed.
- Advocate for families by liaising with school administration and community partners to ensure appropriate support and services are received.
- Coordinate crisis intervention by assisting families in accessing the most appropriate services during challenging periods.
Requirements:
- A related post-secondary degree or diploma in psychology, social work, or a similar field.
- At least 2 years of working experience in mental health or health/human services related roles.
- Experience in an educational setting, working with children and adolescents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with community agencies and organizations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Appropriate insurance coverage to transport children and families.
