Our Owen Sound office is currently in search of a Staff Accountant, who will report directly to the firm's partners.

This position is well-suited for individuals who exhibit strong personal and professional accountability, possess a commitment to excellence, and are motivated to achieve their highest potential.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid work-from-home model

Compensation: $45,000 - $60,000 (flexible based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of compilation engagements
  • Preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping tasks, including transaction recording, bank account reconciliation, HST return preparation, and management reporting
  • Efficient preparation and completion of working papers, financial statements, and corporate tax returns for compilation engagements, adhering to firm and regulatory standards for various clients
  • Accurate preparation of tax assignments, ensuring timely completion of tax returns (T1, T2, HST) and resolution of queries
  • Preparation of trust returns (T3)

Qualifications:

  • A college or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or a related finance role
  • Proven expertise in preparing compilation engagements and corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Technologically proficient with accounting and tax software
  • Strong understanding of tax and accounting principles
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Tax Prep, CaseWare, Sage, and QuickBooks
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in challenging situations
  • Excellent time management skills and self-motivation to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
