Job Summary

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Meaford, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who has deep personal and professional accountability, a passion for excellence, and is driven to reach their full potential. Dedicated team players with a strong work ethic will be considered for increased responsibilities and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagements, corporate and personal income tax returns, and provide assistance to clients with bookkeeping tasks.
  • Participate in the efficient preparation and completion of working papers, financial statements, and corporate tax returns for compilation engagements.
  • Prepare tax assignments, including tax returns (T1, T2, HST), and ensure queries are cleared and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare trust returns (T3).

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • 1 Year Experience Preferred (but willing to train for recently enrolled CPA candidates).
  • Sound working knowledge of tax and accounting principles.
  • Accounting, tax, and software knowledge, i.e.: Tax Prep, CaseWare, Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Highly analytical and accurate, attention to detail is critical to this role.
  • A strong work ethic, and thrive on challenges.
  • Strong time-management abilities and self-motivation to work independently in a high-volume work environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and efficiently.
  • A passion for client service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to continually expand one's professional skill set, learn on the job, take on additional responsibilities as required and respond to and thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Candidates must be flexible to work overtime during peak business periods.
