Position Overview

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is in search of a Facilities and Security Director to spearhead the Facilities and Security division. Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Organizational Effectiveness, this role entails leading a team responsible for all facets of building operations, encompassing security, functionality, and efficiency. The incumbent will be tasked with formulating frameworks, strategies, and initiatives aimed at effectively supporting organizational requirements while ensuring a secure and operationally sound environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Annually establish and oversee functional KPIs, work plans, and the associated resource and budgetary plans, ensuring compliance with budgetary and procurement protocols.
  2. Attract, retain, and cultivate a skilled and proficient Facilities team.
  3. Design, implement, and uphold pertinent policies and procedures that align with business objectives for streamlined facility operations.
  4. Coordinate and manage the performance and delivery of external service providers for building maintenance, facility-related capital initiatives, and security resources.
  5. Formulate and execute security protocols, access control measures, and emergency evacuation strategies based on comprehensive risk assessments to mitigate physical security risks.
  6. Oversee and monitor the appropriate inspection schedule for all routine and non-routine maintenance of building systems across SRC locations to promptly address issues and ensure operational continuity.
  7. Develop and maintain spatial plans to ensure that business requirements are adequately met while balancing cost considerations.
  8. Deliver on project plans, budgets, and time-sensitive deliverables through effective collaboration and communication with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  2. A minimum of 15 years of experience in Facilities Management and/or Operations.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

Required Skills

  1. Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, relevant data utilization, and a collaborative, adaptable approach to problem-solving.
  2. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills to attract, retain, and develop outstanding talent.
  3. In-depth knowledge of building codes, industrial real estate, space design, electrical systems, fire codes, HVAC systems, and relevant legislation to provide effective solutions to business challenges with a steadfast commitment to safety.
  4. A customer-centric approach with demonstrated project management skills for consistent on-time delivery.
  5. Strong business acumen and analytical skills to evaluate data and recommend preventative measures.

The selected candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory original Criminal Record Check prior to the commencement of employment duties.
