Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defence Legal Assistant to join our team at Kent Legal. As a key member of our litigation team, you will provide administrative legal support to our lawyers while ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers, including monitoring deadlines and preparing legal documents
  • Transcribe, prepare, and revise legal documents, contracts, and correspondence
  • Open, close, and maintain legal files
  • Schedule examinations for discovery, motions, and mediations
  • Communicate professionally with clients and court representatives
  • Assist with docketing, timesheets, and coordinate billing cycle
  • Post bills on our clients' e-billing platform
  • Update and maintain lawyers' calendars
  • Fax, scan, photocopy, and bind documents
  • Communicate with clerks and lawyers to ensure relevant information is properly coded with proper descriptions in dockets

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk in an Insurance Defence role
  • Legal Assistant Certificate or Law Clerk diploma from an accredited institution
  • Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Ability to work well in a team as well as with minimum supervision when required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, interpersonal, and time management skills
