Public Works Dispatcher

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Works Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to our citizens and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to public inquiries and dispatch crews to resolve issues related to water, sewer, and other public works services.
- Monitor and respond to emergency alarms and provide support to emergency responders.
- Provide administrative support to the Engineering Services department, including data entry, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of City policies, procedures, and regulations related to public works services.
- Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by courses in mapping software, MS Office programs, and other standard software courses.
- Considerable related clerical experience working with computerized record-keeping systems, as well as excellent numerical skills, good attention to detail, effective keyboarding, and accurate data entry ability.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior public works dispatch and operator experience.
- Considerable knowledge of applications such as MS Word, Access, and Excel.
- Knowledge of OMS, VanMap, ENGIS, SIS, Hansen, and SAP or equivalent programs.
- Good organizational skills to handle a heavy workload, and demonstrated ability to handle volume with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
