About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our team at Mandeep S. Dandiwal Insurance & Financial Services Inc. As an Insurance Underwriter, you will play a critical role in reviewing individual and group applications for insurance, evaluating new and renewal applications to determine insurance risks, insurance premiums, extent of coverage, and other conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application Review: Review individual and group applications for insurance, ensuring that all necessary information is provided and that the applications meet our company's underwriting guidelines.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate new and renewal applications to determine insurance risks, insurance premiums, extent of coverage, and other conditions, using medical reports, rate tables, and other documents as necessary.
  • Policy Approval: Approve the sale of insurance policies, ensuring that all necessary conditions are met and that the policies are in compliance with government regulations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies, maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
  • Client Communication: Provide recommendations on individual or group insurance plan designs, offer underwriting advice, and answer inquiries from clients and other company personnel.
  • Reporting: Prepare underwriting reports, summarizing key findings and recommendations for management and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certifications: Provincial or territorial licence.
  • Insurance Experience: Liability insurance, business risk insurance, automobile insurance, fire insurance, health insurance, life insurance products, and property insurance.
  • Work Conditions: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, attention to detail.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, team player, flexibility.
