Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Position Overview:
The Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Services. This pivotal position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for ensuring that RLI adheres to Canadian Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO). The Senior Director will oversee the financial, human resources, payroll, information technology, reception, and corporate administrative functions, ensuring optimal accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Develop and track key performance indicators to assess financial performance and operational effectiveness.
- Implement and manage initiatives aimed at ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.
- Lead the planning and execution of the Finance Annual Workplan.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial funding agreements while aligning expenditures with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Establish and maintain internal controls to guarantee compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, for review by the CEO and Board of Governors.
- Facilitate financial transactions for various agreements under the guidance of relevant authorities.
- Coordinate the annual financial audit process and ensure timely remittances and payments.
- Review and approve monthly reconciliations and payroll processes.
- Advise the CEO on any financial risks that may impact RLI.
Corporate Services Oversight:
- Lead the strategic planning and implementation of Corporate Services initiatives.
- Oversee upgrades and improvements for IT systems and databases, ensuring data governance and compliance with privacy legislation.
- Establish collaborative relationships with corporate services stakeholders to enhance data integrity and security.
- Coordinate logistical needs for IT and office equipment.
- Develop and implement effective internal and external communication strategies in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
- Support the HR Manager in the development of HR strategies and programs.
General Leadership:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the Finance and Corporate Services team.
- Analyze departmental operations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Travel as required for the role.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- CPA Designation is mandatory.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting and administration, with at least five years in IT/project management.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing a team.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate financial management and ASNPO.
- Strong understanding of employment legislation and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience in Indigenous or not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
