Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Taxation Senior Manager to join our team at Foresters Financial. This is a senior-level position that requires a strong background in taxation and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Returns and Compliance
  • Prepare and review working papers to support corporate tax and information returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Complete tax forms and supporting documentation for returns on a timely basis, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Review working papers for various tax returns, including HST, non-resident tax, and Segregated Fund tax returns, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist with US and UK compliance requirements, staying up-to-date with changing regulations and laws.
  • Prepare and review Policyholder tax filings, ensuring timely submission and accuracy.
  • Assist with CbCR reporting forms, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Tax Compliance and Control Processes
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Requisition all installments and payments for taxes on time, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ensure effective control procedures over tax processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies through automation, streamlining tax processes and improving productivity.
  • Review and approve tax journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure tax compliance documentation is up to date, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Audits and Research
  • Manage external tax audits and other tax authority audits, ensuring a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for audits, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Research, Planning, and Analysis
  • Research and analyze legislative tax issues, staying up-to-date with changing regulations and laws.
  • Assist with tax structuring and cash flow analysis, providing recommendations to management.
  • Stay updated on tax legislation changes and analyze impacts, providing recommendations to management.
  • Respond to internal tax-related queries, providing accurate and timely information.
Requirements
  • University degree in Business or a related field.
  • CPA required, CA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive post-graduate tax experience.
  • FLMI an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with the ability to manage priorities.
  • Experience using Canadian Tax Return software.
