Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our team at Kamloops Surgical Centre Ltd. This is a permanent position with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. The primary language of work will be English.

Job Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Monitor and document symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
  • Nursing Interventions: Evaluate patients to determine suitable nursing actions.
  • Collaborative Care: Work alongside an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate, and assess patient care in consultation with patients and their families.
  • Medication Administration: Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Research Engagement: Participate in nursing-related research activities.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate or oversee medical apparatus or equipment.
  • Consultative Services: Provide expert advice on nursing profession and practice issues.
  • Nursing Care: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients.
  • Supportive Counseling: Offer supportive counseling and life skills programming.
  • Supervision: Oversee licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform necessary administrative tasks.
Supervision

This role involves supervising a team of 3-4 individuals.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of College/CEGEP.
  • Licenses: Must hold a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate and be licensed as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities.
Work Environment

The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical demands include:

  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Working under pressure.
