Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team in Montreal. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in leading our estimating team and providing expert analysis of contract documents and specifications.

Responsibilities
  1. Estimate and Analyze: Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine overall project requirements, including bonding, insurance, and other essential factors.
  2. Schedule and Plan: Establish a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines, to meet contract completion dates for large projects.
  3. Pricing and Budgeting: Lead pricing for general expenses and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects, including lump sum and construction management.
  4. Documentation and Organization: Document all information relating to the estimate and archive and organize such information to transfer to the project team upon successful award.
  5. Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Conduct a risk and opportunity analysis for review by the chief estimator to add to the risk register.
  6. Client Liaison: Liaise with external consultants and project management organizations to estimate project budget requirements and coordinate tender development process on behalf of clients.
  7. Project Monitoring: Monitor client project-specific success criteria and hold the team accountable for finding creative solutions for overall project benefit.
Qualifications
  1. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
  2. Construction Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines.
  3. Bid Preparation: Expert knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing, and bid closing procedures.
  4. Contract Understanding: Understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models and able to identify contract risks and opportunities.
  5. Bid Processes: Understanding different bid processes and contract delivery type methods, including hard bid/lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and construction management/cost reimbursable.
