We are seeking a qualified ASL Instructor to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's Continuing Education International & Indigenous Languages Program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a program that meets the needs of ASL learners, while ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering engaging ASL lessons
  • Assessing student progress and providing feedback
  • Communicating with parents and guardians
  • Supervising students in virtual and physical learning settings
  • Participating in professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Fluency in ASL
  • Teaching experience, preferably in ASL
  • Related degree or diploma, with preference for Ontario College of Teachers' certification or equivalent

Preference will be given to candidates who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Candidates will be selected based on their teaching experience, qualifications, and interview performance.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

All employment offers are conditional upon the program running in the school year and during the summer program.

Instructors who are not currently OCDSB employees will be required to submit a valid Police Records Check for employment with the vulnerable sector.
