Job Summary

WhereTo is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer Lead to lead our team's technical planning and drive accountability for quality and consistent output. The ideal candidate will have strong experience delivering projects/products to a large user base and a passion for mentoring junior engineers.

The Software Engineer Lead will work closely with the team project manager to organize and maintain regular meeting cadence, including planning sessions, 1-1 meetings, and standups. They will also provide technical guidance, lead code review, and advocate on behalf of team needs such as addressing technical debt and improving infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid work structure. If you are a motivated and experienced software engineer looking to take on a leadership role, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical planning for the team's projects
  • Maintain team velocity and drive accountability for quality and consistent output
  • Work with the team project manager to organize and maintain regular meeting cadence
  • Provide technical guidance and lead code review
  • Advocate on behalf of team needs such as addressing technical debt and improving infrastructure
  • Provide regular feedback to engineers and input to management for formal performance reviews
  • Help team members debug issues and solve complex tasks
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers
  • Help team members develop and execute their personal growth goals
  • Lead deployment process for the team
Requirements

Either a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or in a related field, or 4+ years industry experience as a contributor and manager.

Strong experience delivering projects/products to a large user base.
