About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Benefits Advisor to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs team, you will play a critical role in providing expert analytics and advice to support the success and sustainability of our group benefits and retirement programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement targeted solutions and needs-based programming in collaboration with Human Resource teams, AHS departments, unions, consultants, and service providers.
  • Provide leadership and expertise to your peers, making decisions, observing trends, analyzing existing programs, and engaging in alternative scenario assessment to accurately determine the impact of plan changes.
  • Utilize project management, critical thinking/problem solving, data and statistical analysis, financial management, risk identification, and policy/contract development to contribute to the overall effective management of the Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs team.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and maintain strong working relationships and effectively manage partnerships.

Requirements:

  • CEBS designation or other related professional designation.
  • A combination of education, skills, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business degree, underwriting, project management training, actuarial, investment, financial planner, or accounting certification.
  • More than 5 years' experience in a similar role in a complex environment.
  • Understanding of group benefit and retirement program trending.
