About the Role

Elia Grid International (EGI) is a global engineering consultancy company, part of Elia Group (Belgium) and Hertz (Germany), specializing in complex power system challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal – HVDC / Offshore Grids to reinforce our team working on Infrastructure in the context of deep integration of renewable energy sources, Energy and Balancing Market Integration.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop new revenue streams within current and prospective customers.
  2. Identify and understand customer needs, and develop solutions to meet them.
  3. Build relationships with industry players and collaborate directly with the C-Suite of utilities, Project Developers, System Operators, and Investment funds.
  4. Lead a team of HVDC experts and report directly to the Chief Operation Officer.

Technical Expertise

  1. Lead the development of Technical Specifications on Large HVDC and complex Offshore Grid Projects.
  2. Take part in the early design and coordinate the Front-End Engineering and Design phase of such projects.
  3. Oversee procurement and tendering activities and support the project Owners in various phases of their projects.
  4. Drive and stimulate the development of HVDC and Offshore solutions proposed by EGI.
  5. Lead a local team of subject matter experts based in North America and facilitate a smooth collaboration between the local and global organization.
  6. Contribute to the continuous evolution of the company by adopting best practices, seeking improvement opportunities, and engaging in the development of strategic partnerships.
  7. Support in daily business, resource planning, sales and operations planning, recruitment, and management of consultants/contractors.
  8. Ensure that all project activities are carried out according to policies, quality standards, and financial targets.

Requirements

  1. Be knowledgeable of the HVDC market in North America - years of professional experience in the HVDC field in leadership positions (Team Leader, Project Manager, Project Director, Chief Engineer, or similar).
  2. Master's in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  3. Industry expert with credibility and a name in the industry to open doors and command respect when proposing solutions.
  4. Proven success in business development, especially producing solutions and shaping offers to solve customer challenges at C-Level contacts.
  5. Experience overseeing the delivery of strategy or operational consulting services to the electricity transmission sector.
  6. Managing large and complex projects in a global team of experienced professionals and experts.
  7. Knowledge of strategy development, market & regulations, business transformation, offshore grid, interconnectors, digitalization, or other topics related to the energy transition.
  8. Fluency in English is mandatory.
  9. Mobility and flexibility, willing to travel up to % of the time for international assignments depending on the business development needs.
