This role is crucial for adapting the organization's Security Strategy, Architecture, and Product offerings in response to evolving security challenges and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and refine the existing security operations framework.
  • Identify optimization opportunities, particularly regarding the utilization of SIEM, SOAR, and XDR services.
  • Develop a comprehensive 3–5-year strategic roadmap, which includes:
    • Assessing changing security needs in the current landscape.
    • Exploring automation opportunities within security operations.
    • Addressing operational and security log management.
    • Formulating a strategy for effective cloud tenant monitoring.
  • Project capacity requirements for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with security and operations teams to establish functional and non-functional requirements for security monitoring to effectively detect and respond to cyber threats.
  • Align cloud IaaS/PaaS security architecture with on-premises functions.
  • Create a reference architecture for security operations.
  • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for managed security service providers (MSSP) and SIEM solutions, focusing on:
    • SOAR capabilities.
    • Operational log retention strategies.
    • Forecasting MSSP capacity needs.
    • Criteria for platform selection.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience/certifications with a minimum of 10 years in progressive IT roles.
  • 7-10 years of direct experience in security architecture across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
  • Proficient in optimizing security solutions for effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • In-depth knowledge of current security trends, particularly in Cloud, SIEM, XDR, and managed security services.
  • Experience in drafting RFPs is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Experience in delivering automation solutions alongside business process improvements.
  • Experience engaging with senior management and executives.
  • Familiarity with security tools, including IDS/IPS, SIEM, and Endpoint Protection.
  • TOGAF certification is a plus.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as GIAC, CISSP, CISA, or CISM are beneficial.
  • Thorough understanding of OWASP or CSSLP/CASS certification.

Accountabilities:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the current security architecture and product stack.
  • Identify gaps between the current and desired future state of security architecture.
  • Pinpoint opportunities for optimizing product usage in terms of functionality and capacity.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap to achieve the future state.
  • Formulate a high-level security strategy with recommendations for transitioning to future technologies, including estimated durations and costs.
  • Design a cloud security architecture that integrates seamlessly with a hybrid operational posture.
  • Create supporting documentation for the security team.
