KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the planning, coordination, and execution of recreational activities tailored for Residents.
  • Delivers a varied recreation program designed to address the emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and physical needs of Residents.
  • Establishes a safe, enjoyable, creative, and welcoming recreational atmosphere, sharing responsibility for the morale and wellbeing of Residents.
  • Utilizes available resources within the Residence to enhance recreational opportunities when suitable.
  • Maintains open communication and strong relationships with Residents, families, management, team members, and vendors.
  • Accurately documents and reports relevant observations and attendance for all activities.
  • Contributes to the creation of a monthly calendar featuring a diverse range of activities, outings, and in-house entertainment.
  • Engages in conferences and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Promotes the Residence while cultivating and nurturing partnerships within the community.
  • Provides assistance and support to other department managers as necessary.
  • Assists the bus driver during excursions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Follows additional instructions and performs other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager.
  • Adheres to Provincial Legislative requirements including RHA, RTA, Public Health, and ORCA.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a recreation department.
  2. Experience working with older adults in a hospitality or healthcare environment.
  3. Proven experience with Dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
  4. Completion or pursuit of a certificate, diploma, or degree in leisure and recreation.
  5. Demonstrates self-direction, accountability, effective problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities.
