Nuclear Project Coordinator

Opportunity Overview:
Aecon Nuclear is engaged in a significant alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation, focusing on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). This initiative involves supporting the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
In this role, reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will play a vital part in overseeing the Nuclear Island construction activities, which encompass the Reactor Building's overall construction scope, including containment, equipment, and the Reactor Pressure Vessel, while also interfacing with various project areas. The coordinator will manage the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering tasks, ensuring the production and execution of project documentation, including Construction Work Packages, within the defined scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the development and upkeep of Comprehensive Work Packages alongside construction and engineering teams.
- Provide regular updates on project milestones and make necessary schedule adjustments.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of project outputs, design documents, as-built drawings, and turnover documents.
- Ensure that construction activities adhere to established policies, standards, programs, and procedures.
- Facilitate effective communication between field trades and design engineers to resolve issues and ensure smooth information flow.
- Monitor and track change orders and scope modifications.
- Manage all site procurement activities, including validating material specifications, preparing purchase requisitions, tracking materials, and ensuring traceability of installed materials.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in the project.
- Develop and document detailed work plans in collaboration with construction leads.
- Uphold high standards of quality for the final product.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and engage with project personnel.
- Perform site safety inspections to ensure compliance.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at fostering continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree in a Civil Engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in project engineering within a construction or EPC environment.
- Previous experience working under a Nuclear Quality Program is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong ability to engage with a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
