Position Overview: CB Canada is seeking a skilled Regulatory Analyst to join our team in the Energy Utilities sector. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance and facilitating the regulatory processes for energy utilities. As a Regulatory Analyst, you will leverage your analytical skills and regulatory knowledge to support decision-making for various applications submitted by regulated entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough monitoring of current and proposed regulatory frameworks and policies across different jurisdictions; perform in-depth analyses to assess the potential impacts of changes and prepare comprehensive reports for governmental review.
  • Assist in managing the processing of smaller regulatory applications and contribute to the development and execution of operational policies related to electricity and natural gas sectors.
  • Draft essential components of decision documents and orders, ensuring adherence to established timelines.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate effectively with members of the Project Team as necessary.
  • Review and analyze applications, identifying gaps and required data, preparing information requests, and evaluating needs and public interest.
  • Stay updated with evolving North American standards for the safety and reliability of natural gas and electric systems; monitor ongoing safety testing plans and investigate incidents with the support of technical consultants as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Law, Electrical Engineering, or Business.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a related field, preferably within the energy sector or utility environment.
  • Proficient in analyzing extensive data sets and translating findings into actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Experience in progressively responsible roles focusing on analysis and project management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong presentation and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with energy utility regulation principles is advantageous.
  • General knowledge of policy matters, including regulatory hearings and procedural fairness.
