About the Role

As a Trading and Operations Associate for Self-Directed Investing, you will collaborate closely with the Trading team to support, assist, and oversee trading operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless execution of daily trading activities while delivering an exceptional client experience as we expand. You will focus on automating manual operational processes, developing queries for business intelligence, and supporting the trade desk across various front and back-end initiatives. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to a vibrant company backed by a successful team and product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily trading operations on the Self-Directed Investing trade desk, measuring, tracking, and enhancing trading workflows and associated processes.
  • Lead post-incident analysis in collaboration with Customer Support and Core Operations.
  • Manage and execute inventory for assets affecting Self-Directed Investing trading, including equities, options, and cryptocurrencies.
  • Perform daily operational tasks for Self-Directed Investing while working with cross-functional partners throughout Wealthsimple.
  • Diagnose, identify root causes, and resolve operational issues.
  • Develop new and refine existing business processes to boost productivity and efficiency, minimizing errors and transactional costs related to trading.
  • Establish and monitor metrics for essential operational processes and trading activities.
  • Collaborate with the broader Wealthsimple Core Operations team, data science, and engineering to enhance all upstream and downstream processes, including working with Operations and Compliance Teams on product reconciliations and policy development.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; a firm believer in understanding the numbers behind challenges.
  • Proficient in SQL and Excel, with experience in algorithmic outputs and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering results and leading by example; proactive in improving operational processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Process-driven and self-motivated; capable of independently and collaboratively building out processes.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely, tailored to the audience.
  • Empathetic understanding of the challenges associated with scaling a business, with a readiness to tackle them.
  • Willingness to assist beyond daily responsibilities and find fulfillment in solving intricate problems.
  • Familiarity with equity, options, and cryptocurrency markets.
  • CIRO registration is a plus.
