About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Collateral Trading Associate to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Banking and Markets division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our Collateral Trading business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Risk Assets: You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of risk assets, building the infrastructure and providing analysis for profit/loss and risk associated with managing various products.
  • Perform Asset Allocation Analysis: You will perform asset allocation analysis, taking into account risk-weighted returns and return on capital.
  • Fulfill Collateral Requirements: You will fulfill and optimize the bank's collateral requirements, including variation margin, initial margin, and exchange margin.
  • Create Trade Packages: You will create and execute trade packages to reduce initial margin and build out the infrastructure to participate in multilateral initial margin reduction services.
  • Work with Treasury and Trading Teams: You will work with treasury and trading teams across capital markets to build and execute fund transfer pricing programs in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Champion a Customer-Focused Culture: You will champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand Risk Appetite and Risk Culture: You will understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively Pursue Effective Operations: You will actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Contribute to a High-Performance Environment: You will contribute to a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math, Engineering, or other relevant fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of work experience in capital markets, portfolio/asset management, or treasury.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with programming in any language (e.g. Python) is an asset.
  • Product Knowledge: Experience with fixed income, FX, or derivative products is an asset.
