The Transportation Division at Morrison Hershfield specializes in planning, design, and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge, and related projects. We are currently seeking a Senior Inspector to enhance our transportation team in the Greater Toronto area. This role will be pivotal in delivering environmental assessments and functional, preliminary, and detailed design assignments, primarily for public sector clients. The position offers significant opportunities for professional development and project management growth due to expanding business prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and assess construction activities to ensure adherence to contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to confirm the scope of work, gather relevant information, and maintain quality and payment records in a daily log.
  • Compile field and test data into reports for review by the Contract Administrator.
  • Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Participate in site meetings as necessary.
  • Document video and photographic evidence as required.
  • Address contractor inquiries and clarifications, reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively without losing focus.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering or construction.
  • Experience in inspecting transportation structures, including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Registration as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO.
  • Designation as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi) from O.A.C.E.T.T. is an asset.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and nights as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is an asset.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
