The Transportation Division at Morrison Hershfield specializes in planning, design, and construction administration for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge, and related projects. We are currently in search of a Senior Inspector to enhance our transportation team in the Greater Toronto area. This role is pivotal in delivering environmental assessments and functional, preliminary, and detailed design assignments primarily for public sector clients. With expanding business opportunities in Ontario and beyond, this position offers significant potential for professional development and project management growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction activities to ensure adherence to contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform site surveys to confirm the scope of work, gather pertinent information, and maintain quality and payment records in a daily log.
  • Compile field and test data into comprehensive reports for review by the Contract Administrator.
  • Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and testing to ensure compliance with specifications and agreements.
  • Participate in site meetings as necessary.
  • Document video and photographic evidence as required.
  • Address contractor inquiries and clarifications, reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution.
  • Attend site meetings and conduct reconnaissance as needed.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively without losing focus.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering and construction.
  • Prior experience in inspecting transportation structures, including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Registration as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO.
  • Designation as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi) from O.A.C.E.T.T. is an asset.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and nights as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is advantageous.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
