Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of Spire's hardware design, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Own the electrical and mechanical design aspects of our products, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement test plans to ensure our hardware meets the required specifications.
  • Lead the prototyping and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to provide production support and ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Support cross-functional teams in achieving their goals, leveraging your expertise to drive success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in electronics theory, including component knowledge and analogue and digital circuitry.
  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic capture and layout using enterprise software.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital layout design practices and signal integrity principles.
  • Proficiency in digital communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, LVDS, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, etc.
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks) and mechanical DFM.
  • Strong debugging and fault identification skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and environmental testing.
  • Knowledge of RF theory and circuitry, including power amps, filters, and layout.
  • Experience with thermal design and software skills, including Linux, Python, scripting, and testing automation.
