Job Overview:

The Quality Control Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of perishable goods as they are received from suppliers and prior to distribution to clients. This position is vital for maintaining quality and compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct daily inspections of produce slots to verify that items prepared for shipment meet established quality benchmarks. This includes documenting findings through photographs and generating reports for sales communication.


• Monitor proper rotation of products during routine checks and report any discrepancies to the Operations management team.


• Assess incoming perishable goods upon arrival and initiate credit requests from suppliers for any items failing to meet quality standards.


• Ensure optimal storage and handling practices for fresh produce to reduce waste and improve the overall quality of products delivered to clients.


• Verify the rotation of code-dated products and collaborate with inventory management procedures to determine the appropriate actions for items that should be frozen or discarded.


• Assist in the return process of non-compliant products to suppliers, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.


• Communicate any inventory-related concerns to the Merchandising, Operations, and Finance departments.


• Contribute to minimizing produce waste, customer returns, and quality-related credits.


• Aid in the review and organization of paperwork for all shipments arriving with temperature discrepancies or alarm notifications.


• Track spoilage reports for accuracy and identify opportunities for product recovery.


• Adhere to the company's Food Safety Policy and procedures to guarantee compliance with food safety, quality, and legal standards.


• Commit to working safely with minimal environmental impact and promptly report any hazards, incidents, or spills to the Supervisor.


• Recognize the importance of personal and colleague safety and proactively address any present hazards.


• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:


• At least 1 year of experience in a produce-related setting with the ability to discern quality issues.


• Experience in a high-paced warehouse environment is advantageous.


• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


• Training in Food Safety and quality control is a plus.


• Proficiency in basic software applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.


• Familiarity with material handling equipment is beneficial.
