We provide tailored sand control solutions that enable us to swiftly adapt to the dynamic needs of our clients' vertical and horizontal well operations.
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector plays a crucial role in assessing incoming materials, monitoring work in progress, and evaluating finished products to ensure adherence to Variperm's stringent quality standards.
Work Schedule
This position operates on an evening shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of Variperm's specific quality standards and quality management system.
- Conduct inspections at various production stages to verify compliance with job order quality specifications, utilizing measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and feeler gauges.
- Refer to specific job order documentation when executing quality control inspections on relevant orders.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection activities and outcomes in the quality control inspection log.
- Compile daily quality control reports for the engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure that in-process quality control measures are executed as mandated by the job order documentation and quality management system.
- Notify the Material Review Board of any nonconforming items for appropriate action.
- Collaborate with various production shifts and departments, effectively communicating quality concerns to relevant personnel.
- Engage in training and safety meetings as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Ability to adhere to best practices for inspections, including safety protocols.
- Mechanically inclined with a capacity to learn and comprehend manufacturing processes to identify root causes of quality issues.
- Proficient in using measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Experience with visual weld inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including liquid penetrant inspection.
- Strong attention to detail with a solid understanding of technical drawings.
- Team-oriented with effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of following and interpreting both oral and written instructions in English.
- Competent in Grade 12 mathematics.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of direct quality control experience in a manufacturing or machining setting.
- Any training or certification in welding inspection or NDT is advantageous.
- Internal auditor training or certification is a plus.
- A high school diploma accompanied by relevant post-secondary education.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks, accountable, and able to work independently.
- Committed to continuous improvement initiatives.
