Position Overview
The Project Engineer plays a key role in leading projects from design to completion, serving as the Engineer-of-Record and mentoring junior staff. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Coordination: Effectively coordinate assigned projects through the municipal design approval process, ensuring timely completion and meeting client and municipal deadlines.
- Design and Engineering: Direct involvement in the detailed engineering design process, guiding technical support staff to ensure completion of design objectives, approvals, and documents.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and municipal staff, making notes and records of outcomes for project record purposes.
- Project Management: Meet project milestone events, track progress, and obtain authorizations/approvals for changes in schedule/scope.
- Complex Issue Resolution: Resolve complex issues during both design and construction phases, ensuring project success.
- Contract Administration: Manage contracts and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and evaluation of junior staff, promoting growth and development within the organization.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of local experience in design of land development or capital works projects.
- Registration: Registered as a P.Eng. within the province of work.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects, and consistently produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
