Overview

Project Manager - Mining/Remediation/Construction

Parsons Corporation is at the forefront of the Giant Mine Remediation Project, a premier initiative focused on restoring the environment through cutting-edge techniques. This extensive project is set to span over a decade, and we are seeking highly skilled and driven project managers with a background in civil construction. The selected individuals will oversee project and construction management, ensuring the successful delivery of work packages from the design stage to project completion and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in design assessments and contribute valuable insights on constructability.
  • Oversee the planning, management, and progression of work packages from design completion to final handover.
  • Develop internal budget estimates and project schedules.
  • Create scopes of work and tender documents, including pre-bid meetings and necessary communications.
  • Participate in bid assessments and contract finalization.
  • Facilitate contractor onboarding, manage document submissions, and secure approvals for construction mobilization.
  • Ensure effective execution of construction tasks and monitor contractor performance, adhering to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Manage the flow of requests for information and compliance with change order processes.
  • Track and report on project deliverables, including schedule adherence, cost management, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with construction superintendents, inspectors, QA/QC coordinators, finance, procurement, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in addressing cost, schedule, or quality discrepancies by working with subcontractors to implement corrective measures.
  • Support the Mine Manager and H&S Manager in promoting health, safety, and environmental compliance among subcontractors.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports detailing work package status, schedule compliance, and budget assessments for senior management review.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Engineering, Geology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Over 12 years of experience in project management and construction management, with a focus on developing project requirements, cost estimation, and managing project execution.
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy civil, northern mining, or remediation projects.
  • Experience in Northern Canada is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of current technologies applicable to project execution.
  • Professional designation as a geologist, engineer, or CET, with a PMP designation preferred.
  • Proven experience managing on-site activities of multiple subcontractors.
  • Ability to address and resolve performance issues with subcontractors.
  • Strong capability to work independently while coordinating team efforts.
