Project Director Opportunity at Aecon Concessions

Aecon Concessions is seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead our Heavy Civil East division on transformative major projects within the GTA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering commercial success and ensuring the safe and timely completion of projects.

About the Role:

  • Project Development: Assist in securing new work through participation in bidding and proposal teams.
  • Project Management: Responsible for delivery against all budget, schedule & quality targets, including safety, quality, and commercial management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Create and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, joint venture partners, and government agencies.
  • People Management: Hire, supervise, coach, and mentor project personnel, ensuring the project has the required staffing and succession plans.
  • Communication: Build engagement through ongoing communications to all staff and stakeholders, providing required project reporting and forecasting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 20 years of construction leadership experience on complex major projects, with a proven track record of delivering commercial success.
  • In-depth expertise in civil construction, with a solid understanding of rail systems.
  • In-depth experience in working with complex contractual agreements and project financing.
  • 2-3 years' experience working on complex rail projects, hard and soft rock tunneling, and underground stations.
  • 2-3 years' experience working on major pursuits and proposals.
  • The proven ability to successfully manage large and complex construction projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience working on projects with international joint venture partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of change management principles, including identifying significant variations, claims identification, narration, quantification, and evaluation.
  • Proven track record with claims management and dispute resolution on major projects.
  • Experience with risk identification and management.
  • Experience in liaising with client, subcontractor, and consultant representatives.
  • The proven ability to effectively recruit and build teams and manage senior project staff.
  • Sound understanding of contractual, commercial, and financial functions on major projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in French and English is required (oral and written).
