Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse 3 to join our team at Seven Oaks General Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert nursing care to chronic renal failure patients, collaborating with healthcare professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing care to selected patients and their families
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Initiate diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions
  • Act as a clinical and information resource
  • Participate in orientation and educational activities, rounds, renal clinics, and renal outreach activities
  • Participate in clinical research projects
Requirements
  • Minimum three years recent Nephrology nursing experience required
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred or equivalent, combination of education and experience will be considered
  • CNA Nephrology certification preferred
  • Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course or equivalent required
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required
  • Active participation in professional associations, e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy
  • Valid driver's license and use of own vehicle required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scope of practice as documented in a Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to care through a family-centered nursing approach
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in subspecialty
  • Commitment to maintaining current knowledge in area of expertise through reviewing literature and attending continuing education in services, workshops, and conferences
  • Expertise and competence in nursing practice, interviewing, counseling, teaching, and group dynamics
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians and nurses and community members
  • Displays initiative, accountability, good time management, decision-making ability, leadership, and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge and skills in research and quality assurance
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows
  • Participates in quality assurance activities
  • Maintains necessary reports, records, statistics
  • Participates on committees as required
  • Adheres to all safety and health policies, regulations, and safe work practices
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required
  • Hours of work are flexible and may include evening, night, or weekend shifts as required
  • Travel as required (i.e. home visit)
