Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Fraud Detection Specialist to join our team at Tangerine. As a key member of our fraud detection team, you will play a critical role in identifying and preventing fraudulent activity related to our credit cards and day-to-day banking services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and analyze questionable credit card activity to identify potential fraud trends and patterns.
  • Proactively contact customers to discuss suspicious activity and block accounts from further fraudulent use.
  • Report and escalate any fraud trends or activities to management for further action.
  • Work to minimize fraud losses through detection, investigation, and mitigation, contributing to the profitability of the organization.
  • Detect and prevent fraudulent activity by analyzing alerts generated by fraud detection tools and assessing the probability of fraud.
  • Make decisions to block accounts or contact cardholders to discuss suspicious activity.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify potential points of compromise and take action to prevent large-scale fraud attacks.
  • Share information on trends to ensure large-scale fraud trends are identified and addressed quickly.
  • Communicate with branches and other Bank departments to resolve inquiries related to fraud issues and complaints.
  • Support the Bank's annual Fraud Plan and business objectives by achieving and maintaining required service level standards.
Requirements
  • Fluency in both English and French is required (reading, writing, and spoken).
  • Availability to work one of two possible shifts, including occasional statutory holidays/weekends.
  • Prior experience in fraud detection is required.
  • Experience working with Mastercard products is required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and TSYS is required.
  • Customer Service experience is required, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Previous Retail Banking and/or Advice/Call Centre experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in business or other related disciplines is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention-to-detail, and ability to make effective decisions.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and problem resolution skills.
