We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Insurance team at CNA Insurance. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting risks in a book of business, working within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring significant technical complexity and coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Perform a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines, reviewing applications and financial requirements for risks requiring complex underwriting skills.
- Financial Analysis and Pricing: Determine the acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards, and determine appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements.
- Communication and Negotiation: Prepare quotes and answers questions from brokers, policyholders, or other external contacts, and negotiate with brokers to reach positive and profitable outcomes.
- Reporting and Analysis: Analyze quality, quantity, and profitability of risks underwritten and prepare reports for management review.
- Market Development and Relationship Building: Market products and services through the brokerage community, develop and maintain broker relationships, and provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and functional areas.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of five years underwriting experience.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices, with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
- Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
