About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our Central Region team in Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing risks, assessing underwriting submissions, and making sound decisions to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze complex risks and assess underwriting submissions to ensure accurate and timely decisions.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of accounts in alignment with Ecclesiastical's strategic goals, building strong relationships with customers and brokers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and improvement, and implement changes to drive business success.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying knowledge to inform underwriting decisions and drive business growth.
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field, such as insurance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years' experience in underwriting, with a focus on property and casualty products and success in intermediate-level roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate risks and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in underwriting tools, systems, and data analysis techniques, with the ability to evaluate risks and determine appropriate coverage.
