Position: Finance Controller, Canada – AVEVA Denmark

Reporting Line: VP Finance Americas

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Role Overview

As the Finance Controller in Canada, you will be instrumental in managing the financial operations and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards within the organization. You will report directly to the VP Finance Americas and oversee key functions such as financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  1. Generate precise and timely financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  2. Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  3. Evaluate financial data to detect trends, discrepancies, and areas for enhancement.
  4. Deliver financial reports to management, offering insights and recommendations for informed decision-making.

Cash Flow Oversight:

  1. Oversee cash flow by tracking receivables, payables, and liquidity status.
  2. Develop strategies to enhance cash flow and working capital management.
  3. Ensure compliance with banking covenants and financial agreements.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

  1. Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws.
  2. Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and regulatory submissions.
  3. Maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.

Financial Strategy and Analysis:

  1. Conduct financial analyses to support strategic planning and business development.
  2. Assess investment opportunities, capital expenditures, and potential acquisitions.
  3. Provide financial insights to aid business growth initiatives and cost-saving strategies.

Leadership and Team Development:

  1. Guide and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and development.
  2. Promote a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance division.
  3. Encourage ongoing improvement and innovation in financial processes and systems.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA designation is preferred).
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian accounting principles (ASPE/IFRS) and tax regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Quebec, with a solid understanding of provincial regulations and compliance requirements.
  2. Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting methodologies.
  3. Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  4. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software (e.g., ERP systems).
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Ability to excel in a dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
