Position Overview

The People and Culture division is seeking a dedicated Compensation and Culture Advisor to enhance WorkSafeBC's organizational culture and drive business success through the development, execution, and management of compensation strategies. If you are an experienced compensation expert eager for a rewarding role, we would be interested in your application.

Reporting to the Staff Compensation Manager, you will serve as a consultant for diverse compensation initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals. You will spearhead key projects aimed at refining WorkSafeBC's compensation frameworks and policies. Your expertise in human resources, combined with your compensation knowledge, will be essential in researching, advising, and consulting on various compensation programs to ensure internal fairness and external market alignment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and engage in job evaluation committees for both unionized and management roles
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of job descriptions to ensure precision and eliminate redundancies
  • Investigate compensation methodologies and industry best practices to evaluate and enhance WorkSafeBC's existing programs
  • Ensure the integrity and completeness of compensation data while coordinating the annual review process
  • Participate in external salary surveys and collaborate with consultants to assess market competitiveness
  • Develop and implement salary administration policies informed by thorough research and benchmarking
  • Present compensation initiatives and changes to various stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of new processes and policies
  • Collaborate with union representatives regarding job evaluations and descriptions

We are looking for candidates who can:
  • Clearly articulate complex information both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences
  • Analyze and conceptualize data to enhance or develop compensation programs
  • Manage multiple projects of varying scopes to ensure effective implementation of compensation strategies
  • Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders on various initiatives
  • Meticulously review and analyze data with a high level of accuracy
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in human resources, compensation, or related areas
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or progress towards it is preferred
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, such as PeopleSoft, is a strong asset
  • Proven experience in researching, analyzing, and implementing compensation strategies
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and knowledge of reporting tools
An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
