Qualifications Required At YMCA Calgary, we prioritize aligning our employees with their strengths, interests, and aspirations.

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Passion for engaging with children
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Previous experience in Day Camp or similar roles is advantageous
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification obtained within the last year
  • Proof of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the last year
  • Three professional references
  • Availability for hybrid training sessions
  • Full-time availability during the camp period
  • Experience in any of the following areas would be a valuable asset:
o Visual arts, drama, dance, photography, swimming, basketball, skating, and rock climbing.

Role Overview at YMCA Calgary
Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for children enrolled in YMCA Calgary Day Camps
  • Providing proactive supervision and facilitating daily activities
  • Collaborating with fellow Day Camp staff, including supervisors and support staff
  • Planning and executing daily schedules within the established curriculum, incorporating arts and crafts, active group activities, and sports that promote physical literacy and engagement
  • Participating in pool activities with campers
  • Demonstrating and modeling positive behavior in interactions with staff, campers, and community members
  • Adhering to YMCA Calgary Policies and Procedures
  • Administering first aid as necessary
  • Welcoming parents/guardians and campers upon arrival and departure, providing assistance and updates as required
