Job Summary:

The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction and maintenance of buildings, including preparing layouts, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling and joining wood and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for construction projects.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
  • Scheduling and co-ordinating work on sites.
  • Instructing apprentices and supervising other workers.
  • Estimating costs and materials for construction projects.
  • Maintaining, repairing and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
Requirements:
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Judgement. Reliability. Team player.
Work Environment:

The Carpenter will work in a variety of settings, including construction sites, mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.

Language:

The primary language of work is English.

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week.
